Negative Confessions, Inner Vows & Curses - Spiritual Housecleaning

Ever get disturbed by the massive amount of 'positive thinking' guru garbage that's out there? Why is it so big? It's big, because it's precepts are based on biblical principles, and it will work for people until the day they stand before God and He retorts:

"You have not come through the door that I appointed."

[John 1:1"Truly, truly, I say to you, he who does not enter by the door into the fold of the sheep, but climbs up some other way, he is a thief and a robber."]

If such 'positive' biblical precepts will work for anyone-- have we, 'heirs of the kingdom' really understood the power not only for good but for bad that we wield by our professed outlook on life?

This episode of Spiritual Housecleaning focuses on understanding the damage that a negative outlook or confessions, as well as unscriptural inner vows can harm us and place a heavy bondage over our lives.

I'm going to tell you a couple of real life examples that explore the effects of compounding negativity… so that you will be able to -- in turn -- effectively 'fine tooth comb' through your own issues later and gain victory in God's ultimate truth.

So let me tell you a story about a girl…

This girl has always had a life mantra of "I'm not a math person". Now it's true that we all have giftings and talents that Father God uniquely blesses His children with, but remember, we're getting out the fine tooth comb… and we have to separate what is healthy in our excuses versus what have we allowed to become as a bondage over our lives.

The bondage of a wrong belief system can be unearthed and realized in layers, if we will be 'real' with ourselves.

So back to our 'non-math lov'in gal'… and the many layers that led up to an unbiblical belief that became a form of bondage:

It began all the way back in elementary school. The High School math teacher also doubled as her bus driver. One of the family dogs would often break it's chain or slip out of it's collar and do what it loved to do best…. Chase the bus! This frequent occurrence highly perturbed the Math teacher/bus driver. He would often berate this girl, as though it were her responsibility, and she would in turn, tell her Father who was supposed to fix everything, as she wasn't capable to fix a broken link or to go buy a new collar. Her only job was to feed the dog, and that she did very faithfully.

Well, one day, the bus driver ended up running over the dog. The girl really wasn't that sad about it because she did all she could… obviously warning the Dad over and over she wasn't going to beat herself up about it (the dog was a skilled ‘escape artist’!). But, the bus driver was very upset about it.

Now let's fast forward to Middle School. Alas, she finds herself in this Math teacher's class. He has a habit or perhaps a joy in ridiculing anyone that doesn't excel. Our poor heroine not only gets an earful of 'you're stupid', but humiliation in front of all her peers. After this experience she downgrades to basic math for the remainder of school, flies the banner of 'I'm not a math person', avoids 'numbers', and would get a cloudy fog in her mind and struggle to even mentally calculate a simple waiter's tip in her adult years.

What do we have involved here? It's evident that this teacher/bus driver blamed her for the dog always getting loose. There was obvious bitterness harbored against her… and the root of a curse of 'stupid' lies at this point. This teacher/bus driver was an 'authority figure' in her life and if you research in the Word you'll find that authority figures have the power to curse those beneath them as well as bless. In this teacher's class, again… he continued to build that curse of 'stupid' but this time targeted within 'Math' and it's a lie she believed. Through his reckless intimidation (*note intimidation or any sign of 'kill, steal or destroy' coming out of a person is a dead-ringer for demonic influence)-- this poor girl, although innocent and notably wronged, became a victim of a negative lie from the enemy that was solidified as an inner vow.

Folks, this stinks. It's not fair… how many of us have had a portion of our souls marred in innocence in our youth like this poor girl…. this poor girl that was ME. But this victorious girl now, because I have the understanding through the WORD on how to overcome!

[2 Corinthians 10:5 "We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.."]

Because of all these layered experiences I had slowly succumbed to the poison and agreed with them and it manifested in my life for:

"The good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth what is good; and the evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth what is evil; for his mouth speaks from that which fills his heart." Luke 6:45

"For as he thinks within himself, so he is."

Proverbs 23:7

Other people can project their inner vows or negativity to you-- and Yes, YOU also project your negativity and vows to others. Plainly said wherever you are not in the truth of the Word you have an access point for the enemy.

If we are in the truth, we reflect what Jesus said in John 14:30:

"I will not speak much more with you, for the ruler of the world is coming, and he has nothing in Me;.."

When satan doesn't have a hook in you in a certain area of your life, you won't mirror those things opposed to the bible. You won't allow those thoughts to be entertained.

Examples: I met an elderly woman that would constantly spew out fear. Just because people of another race moved in next door she brought in her patio furniture and everything, to a ridiculous degree… already having it in her mind that they were going to rob her. Learn something from this…what she projects, is what the enemy will have access to do, because she's not taking those thoughts captive but she's already determined her belief and it's coming out of her mouth and by her actions.

Have you ever read the book of Job and considered why Satan had access to him? Job, the blameless, upright and God-fearing man? Ever noticed verse 5?:

"When the days of feasting had completed their cycle, Job would send and consecrate them, rising up early in the morning and offering burnt offerings according to the number of them all; for Job said, "Perhaps my sons have sinned and cursed God in their hearts." Thus Job did continually."

Job 1:5

Can you see Job was developing a thought process contrary to the Truth? Satan couldn't see that… all he could see were Holy offerings made to the Lord… but God saw into Job's heart.

Does satan have a place in us that causes us to doubt the absolute Truth of God? We have a choice… will we trust with our whole heart, our whole souls and with our whole minds?

Ever wonder why you always treat a certain person a certain way or others do that with you? I have another true example to share for someone we'll call 'Sarah'; and like my story I'm going to start at the root and move forwards so you can see the power in words; lies believed and know that today, you can examine your own life, and find freedom in the Truth.

Sarah was the last child in a family… a 'surprise' pregnancy that came during an economic tight and tough time. The root is simply that she wasn't wanted under those circumstances. We will call this root a 'spirit of Rejection'. Because of this root of Rejection brought on by parents and possibly grandparents-- by sharing negative words or by assuming bad inner vows… whatever the case, there was an agreement with a precept from the enemy while Sarah was in the womb that would act as a dark cloud over her influencing her throughout her life.

Now, Sarah's parents are great, they love her dearly, but it only takes one 'unrepented of' agreement with the enemy for this thing to seed and grow. But to grow a lie, a wrong belief, an inner vow is needed to cover the foundation. In Sarah's case, whenever 'rejection' would arise in her life, food became a crutch. Mind you, anything can be a crutch, but 'food' was the lie that Sarah was literally fed, and led to believe as the 'fix'.

Guess what happens when you eat too much? Now enters the "fatty" teasing, and jokes to further this bondage. Guess what happens when you keep hearing repetition of something and then BElieve that lie?

Is it any wonder that Sarah has tried weight loss programs and cannot find any success? Because the fat-jokes and teasing were rampant for so many years, they have also spread to other members of the family as well… as well as the curse that goes with it.

People laugh and say, it's 'just joking, just teasing'-- but the Word says we are accountable for every word!

["But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned."

Matthew 12:36-37]

God spoke and it was (Genesis 1:3)! What does the Word say about who we are in Jesus? [GO RESEARCH IT OUT YOURSELF]

Lastly, I'd like to share from Derek Prince's book "Blessing or Curse - You Can Choose" a book I highly recommend.

[Also check out "Me and My Big Mouth" by Joyce Meyer]

I'll paraphrase and then read From chapter 12 on 'Self Imposed Curses'…

Peter denied Jesus three times. Three days later, the angels at the empty tomb told the women "But go, tell His disciples and Peter.." Peter by his own words had denied Christ and now we see the angel reinforcing that… "and Peter", not simply a 'go tell the disciples'.

From the book: "Later Jesus graciously opened the way for Peter to regain his standing as a disciple. He asked Peter three times, "Do you love Me?" Peter answered each time in the affirmative but he was grieved that Jesus put the question three times. He did not realize that Jesus was leading him in this way to revoke his previous denials. For each time that he had made a wrong confession, he now made the right confession. On this basis he was reinstated as a disciple.

The way Jesus dealt with Peter established a pattern for all who need to be released from the snare of a bad confession. There are three successive steps: Repent -- Revoke --Replace."

After you identify the lies, you Repent of those wrong confessions, lies and vows -- Revoke and cancel them in Jesus' name and the Power of what His shed blood did for you -- and then Replace what was wrong with the TRUTH (in the Word of God).

Remember to use the Bible Promise series and make playlists to aid in reprogramming yourself with His Truth. And don't just read or listen to the scriptures but pray for revelation of what they really mean for your situation.

["But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come. John 16:13]
